Primary Years (Grades K - 5)

The Imagine International Academy of North Texas plans to offer the inquiry-based International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) for students in grades K-5.  We will begin the authorization process with the International Baccalaureate Organization in the spring of 2012.  The IB PYP educational framework meets and exceeds all Texas state standards, and students participate in six subject areas: Language (English & Spanish), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Arts, and Personal/Social/Physical Education.

The most significant and distinctive feature of the IB PYP is its framework of six transdisciplinary themes within which students gain content knowledge through purposeful inquiry.  These six themes help teachers develop in-depth investigations into important ideas, require a high level of involvement on the part of the students, and can last several weeks.  The six themes are: Who We Are, Where We Are In Place And Time, How We Express Ourselves, How The World Works, How We Organize Ourselves, and Sharing The Planet.
